On Open Source Software for the Mac

I was looking for a leaner open source word processor to write my history paper in. I came across a great list of common desktop apps, most of which I already use.

The apps I'm interested in using are:

• Bean - Word Processor
• Perian - Addon to Quicktime so it can actually play formats I use.
